What is IPL – How is it used to treat Dry Eyes?

We specialise in Dry Eye Treatments featuring IPL technology

Dry eyes are no ordinary condition as treating it is much more difficult than you think. Eye drops and warm compresses will give some patients a relief but it’s usually temporary and the only way to treat is so is through a comprehensive approach.

This made it even harder to treat because causes and factors are various and different – that there is no single treatment.

At Visique Botany Optometrists, we have a practice that stands out because of our dedicated team members and our passion for our East Auckland Community. We are well versed and possesses a professional knowledge to care for your eyes.

We also provide the highest standard of care and service through our latest technology – one of which is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) a technology used to treat dry eyes.

What is the IPL Treatment process?

An IPL treatment is performed by our optometrist in which she/he places a protective material to protect your eyes from intense light pulses. The cooling gel is applied all around the eyelids to regulate the pulses of light all around the lids. Then the use of the tool will be done and using the pulse of light to liquefy and loosen the oils that have clogged the eyelids through its heat. Each session takes just about 10 – 20 minutes, our optometrist will explain every step of the process and this kind of treatment provides long-lasting relief for dry eye sufferers.

Still hesitant to try IPL? Don’t worry as it is safe and approved for Dry Eye treatments. It also reduces the need for the eye drops, improves eye function and comfort, quick procedure, and most of all it treats the root cause of Meibomian gland dysfunction.
